Pumpkins for Halloween

4 Nov

Hi, world!

So I know it comes a little late, but I decided why not? Here is my pumpkin carved for the Halloween Day. I know it’s simple, but I like it and I’m very proud of it!

I was searching the Internet to find tips about carving, so I wouldn’t make a mess. I found a lot about special tools and stuff like that and I was like… What? I get that people use this tradition, like almost any these days to sell, but you really don’t need those things. At least, I didn’t. Perhaps if I was going to carve to get different layers and different types of light, but I wasn’t.

So I wanted to make this post not only to celebrate Halloween, but also to show you how to carve a pumpkin with simple everyday tools that you have around the house. Because after all a pumpkin radiating light in to the darkness and cold of the night is one spooky thing and at the same time very fun. Let’s start…

I first got  a pumpkin, of course! I bought it at a local market and it weighed about 6 to 7 kg.

Secondly I decided what drawing I was going to use and began to make a medium hole on the top of the pumpkin with a regular kitchen knife. And it’s never too much to say beware when using knives!

Then I took out all of the seeds and something like threads that she has with an ice cream scoop. If you don’t have one, use a spoon.

Now at this step we have 2 ways we can either draw directly on the surface of the pumpkin  or we can draw on a sheet, and secure with your hand or with tape against it and with a sharp instrument puncture.
Hope you enjoyed and if you have any questions or comments feel free to write bellow. Both are fine, because the main point is for you to be able to see the outline so you can cut trough and once you have done that is as simple as just putting a candle inside, light it up and place the top on. Don’t forget to put the pumpkin in a steady place where it’s visible to everyone or just to yourself as a holiday decor and also for me it lasted 3 days till it went spoiled.

Lots of love,
